Stiles is sure this was a terrible idea. Absolutely terrible. He's shaking as he sits, waiting, in the man's office. After everything that happened...he can't do this. He should leave. No - he isn leaving. He's going to walk out that door and -

But Stiles is frozen by fear. His nails are digging into his palm, jaw clenched. Move. Get up. Get out before he shows up. I'm sorry, Dr. Hale, I couldn't make it. Yeah. Sounds plausible.

It was a Wrong Place, Wrong Time type of thing. Actually, it was the Wrong Drink. Worst part was, it wasn't even meant for him. But when the guy figured out he'd roofie'd the wrong kid, well - might as well get something out of it, right? And for some sick reason, that made him feel worse, that he wasn't the intended target. That he was some kind of second class, even for a sick fuck like that. From there, it was all downhill.

So he's stuck in that chair, dreading the moment his new therapist opened the door.

"I understand it's difficult." Peter starts. "But it will get better. For everyone." he assured.

"I sure hope so. Poor kid is…he can't live like this."

"He can't, but he is right now." Peter sighs, looking at the sheriff. "Please, I know you're worried and I'm trying to heal him, Mr. Stilinski. He will come around."

"I know. I know. I just..." He sighs helplessly.

Peter smiles a little sadly, looking away. He just nods.

"It's just difficult." he says quietly.

"Yes. Very." The Sheriff murmurs, mostly to himself. "I needed to come today. I hope you understand."

"I understand." Peter nods with a small smile. "If it makes it better, you can always call my office, or I can give my personal number. So you can call me and ask about Stiles' condition anytime you wish."

"I'd really appreciate that," The Sheriff admits. "I'll try not to bother you too often."

"You can bother me anytime if it makes it makes it easier for you." Peter smiles and takes his pen to write his number down. "Stiles is a good kid and I wish to see him healthy again too." he smiles as he hands over the piece of paper.

"Yeah he - he really is. I wish you could have seen him when he was…"

Peter smiles, looking down. He wishes that too. He can get glimpses how Stiles must have been before the incident and it's awful someone ruined it just to have a 'good time'. He sighs.

"Let's focus on bringing him back to that state then." he looks up.

The Sheriff nods, standing up and accepting Peter's card. "Thank you. I'll…be in touch. Just…keep helping him."

Peter nods with a reassuring smile as he stands too.

"That's just natural." He is helping Stiles, but the signs of dependency are worrying him. And some other signs too. That's why he needs Stiles to open up to others or it can get ugly. Peter really need to talk about this to someone.

The Sheriff leaves, feeling only marginally better than before.

And Stiles - yes, he was definitely getting dependent. He looked forward to his sessions like nothing else, and dreaded them when he failed his assignment.

At the next session, Peter decided to tell Stiles about his father's visit.

"Your father came to see me the other day. Did he tell you?" he asked as he casually handed Stiles a glass.

"…no." Stiles frowns, worried. "Why? What did he say?"

"He was just really worried about you." Peter sighed, resting his chin in his hand as he sat down. "He wanted to know the progress you made and nothing about what he shouldn't know." he assured the boy.

Stiles chews on his lip, accepting the water but still visibly unnerved.

Peter sighs as he's eying Stiles.

"Did something happen?" he asks quietly.

"No." Stiles shakes his head. "I just…feel guilty."

"For worrying your father?" Peter tilts his head, looking at Stiles and trying to see how he was before all this. Before someone broke him.

"Yeah," Stiles admits, staring down at the water in his glass. Oh, he was vibrant. Vibrant and funny and whole.

Peter sighs a little and leaning forward.

"If it helps, they are always worried. All the time." he spoke softly. "It's what parents do and you don't need to feel guilty."

"But this is way more stress than he should have to handle," Stiles insists quietly, still staring at his glass. "It's more than just parents worrying."
